Travelling to Tirana
Albania’s capital is closer, cheaper and more enjoyable than most patients expect. The practical guide, flights, transfers, hotels and what to do on your laboratory days.
Getting here
Tirana International Airport (TIA, also called Rinas or Mother Teresa Airport) connects directly with most major European cities. London, Milan, Rome, Vienna, Frankfurt, Paris, Istanbul and many more, with typical flight times of one to three hours from Western Europe. Budget carriers serve the routes heavily, so return fares are often modest even at short notice.
From the airport, forget taxis: a VIP transfer is part of how we work. Your driver meets arrivals with your name, and the ride to central Tirana takes about 25 minutes. Every clinic appointment during your stay is driven the same way.
Where you stay
We assist with hotel arrangements near the clinic, including 5-star options, comfortable recovery is part of clinical planning, not a luxury add-on. The clinic sits at 3 Kullat on Rruga Dervish Hima, in the walkable heart of the city: cafés, restaurants, pharmacies and parks are all within a few minutes on foot.
Between appointments
- Skanderbeg Square, the National History Museum and the Blloku café district, all walkable from the clinic area.
- The Dajti Ekspres cable car, mountain views over the city in 15 minutes.
- Day trips: Durrës on the coast in under an hour; the Ottoman towns of Berat or Kruja within easy reach.
- Coffee culture. Tirana runs on espresso and unhurried terraces, ideal for laboratory-day patience.
Practical notes
- Currency: Albanian lek (ALL); euros widely understood for medical and hotel services, cards accepted in the city.
- Weather: Mediterranean, hot dry summers, mild winters. Spring and autumn are ideal for treatment trips.
- Language: Albanian, with English and Italian widely spoken in Tirana, and your coordinator translates everything clinical anyway.
- After surgical appointments, plan quiet evenings, sightseeing fits better around non-surgical days, and we schedule accordingly.
