What is All-on-6?
All-on-6 follows the same full-arch principle as All-on-4, a complete fixed bridge carried by implants, but distributes the load across six implants instead of four. The two additional implants shorten the unsupported spans of the bridge and share chewing forces more widely across the jaw.
The trade-off is straightforward: six implants require more available bone and two more surgical sites, in exchange for greater redundancy and load distribution. Where a patient has generous bone volume and a strong bite, All-on-6 is often the more robust long-term engineering. Where bone is limited, forcing six implants in is worse than placing four well, which is why this is an imaging decision, not a preference.

Recovery mirrors All-on-4: swelling and bruising in the first days, a soft diet during early healing, then months of uneventful integration under the temporary bridge. The risk profile is also shared, low but real implant failure rates, raised meaningfully by smoking, uncontrolled diabetes and poor hygiene, plus the standard surgical risks of infection and temporary numbness. Six implants add sites but also add redundancy; your dentist will explain what the numbers mean for your specific case.
